Social Media Influencers in Cyber Crime Spotlight for Gambling Scam

The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has officially issued calls for several social media influencers and YouTubers for their alleged involvement in multi-level financial scams through promoting illegal online trading and gambling sites.

As per official records, Mudassar Hassan, Muhammad Anas Ali, Iqra Kanwal, and Muhammad Husnain Shah have been directed to report themselves at the NCCIA office in Lahore on September 2, 2025, in the course of an ongoing probe into illicit digital financial operations.

The individuals called in are charged with marketing unauthorized gambling and trading apps on their social media platforms, reportedly urging young audiences to invest in illegal platforms. It is claimed the act was done in a joint scheme to swindle the public through promotion of high-risk investments in unlicensed programs.

In their statement, the NCCIA cautioned that non-compliance with the subpoena will amount to an admission of guilt or abandonment of the right to defend oneself during the investigation.

Early revelations, supported by whistleblower accounts, indicate a well-known online gambling site known as “World 777” as playing a central role in this scam. The site is said to be behind a large-scale influencer marketing campaign reaching young Pakistani viewers and luring them into the risky universe of illegal online gaming.

Among the names mentioned on record of marketing the app are model and media personality Mathira, YouTuber Nadir Ali, and Aimen Zaman, Varda Malik, Javeria Aurangzeb, Abeera Khan, Faryal Fairy, and Nauman Kazmi.

Officials reckon that billions of rupees are being drained from Pakistan every month via these platforms. The unregulated money trail is reported to be funding a shadow economy, destabilizing national finance, and causing mass addiction and financial devastation, particularly among vulnerable youth.
