Apple Siri, Apple is preparing Siri’s biggest upgrade in years, with artificial intelligence playing a central role in the transformation.

Reports say Apple is testing Google’s Gemini AI model to power a new web-based search and answer feature for Siri.

The feature, called “World Knowledge Answers,” provides AI-generated summaries that combine text, images, videos, and points of interest.

Unlike Siri’s current responses, this system directly competes with AI search from OpenAI and Perplexity by offering richer answers.

Apple’s broader Siri overhaul aims to handle on-screen context and personal data, creating a smarter, more personalized voice assistant.

Insiders reveal the upgrade uses a planner, a search engine, and a summarizer to interpret prompts and generate concise results.

Apple recently inked a contract to pilot Google’s Gemini for Siri summary use while looking at Anthropic’s Claude and other AI alternatives.

Apple’s internal models will continue to handle device search of local device data, while Gemini and other AI models improve more general knowledge and planning capabilities.

The AI-enhanced Siri update is due with iOS 26.4, potentially out in March, not alongside the next iPhone 17 release.
