Voddie Baucham dies at 56,
Pastor, theologian, and bestselling author Voddie Baucham Jr. has died after suffering an emergency medical event, his family announced.
Founders Ministries, his ministry, posted the announcement on social media Thursday, calling him a devoted servant of Christ.
“Earlier today, following a medical emergency, he passed into rest with the Savior he loved and served,” they posted.
The post had asked for prayers for his wife Bridget, children, and grandchildren for the duration of this profound grieving.
Founders Ministries concluded with Psalm 116:15: “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.”
Early Life and Ministry Work
Baucham was born on March 11, 1969, in Los Angeles, California, and grew up with a single mother.
He emerged as a prominent pastor in Houston and subsequently as a dean of theology at African Christian University.
Worldwide famous, he taught on biblical authority, manhood, discipleship, and cultural apologetics, attracting big crowds in America and internationally.
Health Issues and Family
Baucham was treated for heart failure in 2021, which generated worldwide prayer and financial assistance from Christians.
He recovered from that crisis and often testified of God’s sustaining grace throughout his journey.
Recently, Baucham announced he would relocate with his family to Florida to help launch Founders Seminary.
His wife Bridget, their nine children, and multiple grandchildren survive him.
Legacy and Influence
Baucham authored several influential books, including Family Driven Faith, The Ever-Loving Truth, and the bestselling Fault Lines.
His works focused on the definitive place of Scripture in dealing with cultural and societal matters facing the Church.
In a 2024 interview, he cautioned against the redefinition of evil as good and exhorted repentance and faith in the Gospel.
He emphasized that cultural ideologies isolate individuals from the sole genuine hope in Jesus Christ.
Baucham pointed out laws are significant, but freedom is only a reality in Christ.
